00:00:04:13 - 00:00:30:24 Speaker 1 All right. Good evening. This is the main meeting of the Beech Grove Park Board. Sorry for the delay this evening, if you are watching. We were riding around town looking at all the different park properties and everything that the Parks Department takes care of. So we have been doing that and we will get started now with the Pledge of Allegiance. 00:00:30:27 - 00:00:53:22 Speaker 1 I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic, which stands one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you. All right. We will start on the right with Russell, please. 00:00:53:24 - 00:00:55:27 Speaker 2 Jeff Wheeler, Vice President. 00:00:56:00 - 00:00:57:26 Speaker 1 Dallas King School Board. 00:00:57:28 - 00:01:00:06 Speaker 3 Autumn James, Secretary, Terrible. 00:01:00:07 - 00:01:01:26 Speaker 1 President for Parks. 00:01:01:26 - 00:01:03:08 Speaker 4 Board. 00:01:03:10 - 00:01:26:15 Speaker 1 And then Pam could not be here this evening. She just had a procedure done. So we wish her well. We do not have any guest in attendance this evening to review the 2025 minutes. Does anyone have any amendments or questions or comments before we approve those? 00:01:26:17 - 00:01:29:26 Speaker 2 I make a motion to approve those amendments. Okay. I second that. 00:01:30:03 - 00:01:47:29 Speaker 1 All in favor. I proposed. Minutes are approved. Parks Director Report. 00:01:48:01 - 00:01:51:15 Unknown On. You're welcome. 00:01:51:18 - 00:01:52:21 Speaker 1 Is your microphone sound? 00:01:52:26 - 00:01:53:24 Speaker 3 Should be. 00:01:53:27 - 00:02:25:27 Speaker 4 I'll be all right. Um, I don't have a formal report tonight. I'll send you one. And we have an employee of your baseball is six days a week right now. Um, picnics arfe in full swing already, so most of our work has been trash related. And as you can imagine, what the weather, the mowing is and everything but two or three times a week right now. 00:02:25:29 - 00:02:28:21 Speaker 4 So pretty much mowing up days a. 00:02:28:21 - 00:02:40:01 Unknown Week right now. A little bit of landscaping, work, some more flowers this way. 00:02:40:04 - 00:02:48:13 Speaker 4 To get some more of the landscaping and Charles Park around the trailheads or both. 00:02:48:13 - 00:03:01:29 Unknown Ends up in grass, which probably should have been that way to start with and work it out for a while. Looks good. So that's about it. 00:03:02:01 - 00:03:09:25 Unknown Questions. Everybody has a question. No, I don't. 00:03:09:27 - 00:03:11:21 Speaker 1 Everything looks really nice. 00:03:11:23 - 00:03:19:14 Speaker 2 That's just my setting up the trip around the city also. That was good. Just kind of. 00:03:19:17 - 00:03:39:19 Speaker 1 Thanks to some community center report. Well, I figured it out. Oh, got it. I just had a push button. Hello? 00:03:39:22 - 00:04:00:24 Speaker 6 Um, I am so sorry I did not print these reports for you guys, but I did email them to you. So if, as always, if you have any questions, comments you can ask me here, you can contact me in the office. So last month we had a kingdom come, come out and they ended up Serena over 220 meals. 00:04:00:27 - 00:04:29:26 Speaker 6 So and the pantry saw about 130 families. So that was really exciting. And now, since that outreach, we are seeing about 100 to 120 families every single Wednesday. So we are seeing a rise in clients that come through the pantry. Last month, the community center did it, going green in the Grove and the Bunny trail hop. So are both really big events, both very successful events. 00:04:29:29 - 00:04:59:00 Speaker 6 We did generate some revenue from both, actually. We generated some revenue through raffle prizes for going green, and then we did generate revenue from the Easter Bunny Trail hop. We had about 152 kids come through. I don't know if anybody, any of you guys were down on the actual trail, but there is probably over 300 people on the trail that day that a lot of people who had never seen that part of the trail, a lot of people who didn't know it existed, they had a lot of fun. 00:04:59:03 - 00:05:16:24 Speaker 6 And the feedback we got that they loved that event more than they loved the breakfast event. So we'll keep that going for next year as well. Going green. We got a lot of positive feedback from that also. So some of the things that we had this year that we didn't have last year was we had like a Make Your Own Bouquet station. 00:05:17:01 - 00:05:22:27 Speaker 6 We had interaction with butterflies. Like you were there, right? Yeah. Okay. I was gonna say, What do you think of it? 00:05:22:27 - 00:05:27:15 Speaker 3 I loved it. I mean, it's my favorite event that we do every year, and it was. 00:05:27:21 - 00:05:29:05 Speaker 1 Excellent this year. Thank you. 00:05:29:06 - 00:05:46:21 Speaker 6 Yeah, that was. That was pretty much the feedback that we got. So we were very excited about that. And then for upcoming events, we're doing a lot of planning at the center right now. Summertime is one of our busiest seasons, so we do have a track coming up on May 31st. As a reminder, that's at the community center. 00:05:46:21 - 00:06:03:09 Speaker 6 It will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and is a free event. The only thing people will have to pay for is if they want to enter raffle prizes and it'll be $5 for ten tickets, but everything else will be free. So we'll have a petting zoo, we'll have a trackless train that the kids can ride, they'll get some goodies handed out. 00:06:03:09 - 00:06:21:08 Speaker 6 We'll also have free pizza and breadsticks and then cotton candy. Right now, we have about 20 different trucks signed up, but I'm still waiting to hear back from a couple other places. People are finding us at this point. So I've had a couple organizations call me and say, Hey, we saw you were doing this and we love to participate. 00:06:21:08 - 00:06:44:22 Speaker 6 Would you like us to come out? So that's been really cool. So where I am, that's like one of the events that I'm super excited for. I love anything that we can do for the kids at home, so I'm looking forward to that one. And then fun lunch. So Fun Lunch is continuing this year. We will be at Don Charles Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. 00:06:44:22 - 00:07:07:14 Speaker 6 Lunch will be served from 11 to noon. Activities will take place from noon to one. There was a little bit of confusion out there, so I just want to stay on the record that Sun Bucks are not continuing. That is what is being discontinued. Some bucks was an additional stipend that families were able to get per child that were on free or reduced lunch while they were in school. 00:07:07:15 - 00:07:33:11 Speaker 6 That is not continuing. However, the summer lunch programs around the city are still continuing. I'm sorry, I just wanted to clear that up. And then we actually just found out that I had applied for an Indiana Credit Union grant to help fund this. We just found out we did get that grant. So I am glad about that. So that means that we can do a couple of extra fun things that we wouldn't have been able to do due to budgetary restraints. 00:07:33:13 - 00:07:55:01 Speaker 6 And then the last thing really is summer concert. So we are locked on marketing and locked down sponsorships that people still want to sponsor and donate. They absolutely can. However, their logo just might not be printed on any of our marketing, but they can still be pushed out on social media. So marketing is getting printed as I speak right now. 00:07:55:04 - 00:08:17:12 Speaker 6 I just checked in on that. So that is getting printed up and then some of the things to look forward to that are a little bit different this year is the kids zone area is going to be changing. It's just going to go directly kind of where you guys were talking about doing the pickleball courts. It's going to be over there just so that because we do have extra food trucks this year, food vendors and we also have informational vendors. 00:08:17:18 - 00:08:35:12 Speaker 6 So putting everything right where it was last year is just not going to work. So we just have to expand a little bit more. And then we also are having free yard signs being printed up. So anybody in the city of Beach Grove or outside of the city of Beach Grove would like to market the summer concert series and put a yard sign in their yard. 00:08:35:12 - 00:08:51:26 Speaker 6 It's absolutely free. All they have to do. And I figured, well, I don't have them yet, but we will release that on social media. So you just have to call the center. Stop by the center. It's in, it's free. There's and there's no date on it, so you can reuse it year after year. We will also have fans printed up this year. 00:08:51:26 - 00:09:10:15 Speaker 6 So we have. Yeah. So while supplies last, we have about 300 fans that will be handing out and then we also have koozies that were made up and then t shirts so and the t shirts and the koozies you will have to purchase Jacuzzis will be $5, the t shirts will be $10. The t shirts are actually going to getting printed up through beachfront high school. 00:09:10:21 - 00:09:29:14 Speaker 6 So it's their screen printing business that will let me know. Small Thank you. Yes, the middle school is who is going to be paying those for us. So yeah, and everything else is locked and loaded so they can serve. Good food's good. We have more food than we had last year, so hopefully it'll be exciting. 00:09:29:14 - 00:09:32:23 Speaker 2 So where do you envision how many additional trucks this year? 00:09:32:25 - 00:09:53:12 Speaker 6 So we still only have three trucks still, but then we also have the beach front. Little League signed up and Greg's pizza signed up to have like tents. So they'll be in front of the food trucks and trucks will still be in the same place, and then they'll be in front of the food trucks and then breathe easy Beach Grove at the Park Foundation, and then Humana will each have booths. 00:09:53:12 - 00:10:06:12 Speaker 6 And so that will be kind of where you guys were last year. So Greeks and the Little League will go where the kids was, and then you guys will be directly next to it. And then the kids that will just be pushed further back. 00:10:06:14 - 00:10:11:06 Speaker 1 Are you still wanting more trucks? If you can get them? 00:10:11:08 - 00:10:20:04 Speaker 6 I would say yes, if we can get them. I just logistically don't know where we would put them. 00:10:20:06 - 00:10:21:29 Speaker 4 You're right about that. 00:10:22:01 - 00:10:22:14 Speaker 6 Right. 00:10:22:15 - 00:10:23:24 Speaker 1 Exactly. 00:10:23:27 - 00:10:33:17 Speaker 6 Because I think I mean, really, the only other place we could put them is like up the hill. And then you have people trying to walk up the hill and you you can't we don't block that off. 00:10:33:19 - 00:10:38:18 Speaker 2 So you almost have to just take another row of parking spaces right. 00:10:38:21 - 00:10:40:27 Speaker 1 And is there enough people to. 00:10:40:29 - 00:10:58:14 Speaker 6 That's the other thing is a lot of these food trucks have minimums. So we're blessed right now that we only have one food truck sign up that has a minimum and we kind of want to keep it at that because we're kind of rolling the dice on that. On if they don't meet that minimum. We have a we have we think they will. 00:10:58:14 - 00:11:05:00 Speaker 6 So it shouldn't be detrimental to us, but we want to make sure we check the budget as much as possible. 00:11:05:02 - 00:11:07:14 Speaker 2 Is it the usual group? 00:11:07:16 - 00:11:16:11 Speaker 6 Yeah. So we have a papakura will be there and then rustic the tea room and then pronto tacos will actually be there. So. 00:11:16:17 - 00:11:18:20 Speaker 2 Oh, okay. 00:11:18:22 - 00:11:30:17 Speaker 1 Is there do you have anything or can you get anything to where we can make sure that that little crossing will be safe for the little guys and gals that'll be there through there? 00:11:30:17 - 00:11:34:04 Speaker 6 Yeah, absolutely. 00:11:34:06 - 00:11:36:27 Speaker 3 There are officers at the counter. 00:11:36:29 - 00:11:40:29 Speaker 6 Sometimes it's not guaranteed, but I can talk with. 00:11:41:02 - 00:11:42:11 Speaker 1 You know, like the little florist. 00:11:42:12 - 00:11:44:24 Speaker 6 Yes, Yes. Yeah, yeah. 00:11:44:27 - 00:11:48:17 Speaker 1 Yeah, yeah. Me and Jeff need to stand there. 00:11:48:19 - 00:11:50:17 Speaker 4 In a vest. 00:11:50:20 - 00:11:55:23 Speaker 6 Yeah, that's our goal is that we would like to just close it off so that people can't go in and out like that. 00:11:55:24 - 00:11:58:15 Speaker 1 Yeah. No. 00:11:58:17 - 00:12:04:02 Speaker 6 No, but yeah, that's our goal. So the goal is that. 00:12:04:02 - 00:12:11:27 Speaker 1 It might be a minimum some. So yeah, yeah. Just, you know, absolutely crazy like. Yeah. 00:12:12:00 - 00:12:15:03 Speaker 2 Stops trips. 00:12:15:06 - 00:12:16:23 Speaker 1 Anything else. 00:12:16:25 - 00:12:19:00 Speaker 3 What was that grant from. 00:12:19:02 - 00:12:29:21 Speaker 6 Indiana members credit union. It is I, I have the actual name of the grant it's like named after somebody so I will email that to you so you can put that in your in your notes as well. 00:12:29:23 - 00:12:31:09 Speaker 1 Yeah. Thank you. 00:12:31:10 - 00:12:32:22 Speaker 6 You're welcome. 00:12:32:24 - 00:12:45:16 Speaker 4 I do have two other. Sure. The creek bank restoration for those folks on the stage and their equipment on May 27. So there's going to be a few conflicts. 00:12:45:16 - 00:12:50:06 Unknown In that area that might work for it. But we're going to just as quickly we get the. 00:12:50:08 - 00:12:50:17 Speaker 1 Great. 00:12:50:24 - 00:13:00:29 Speaker 4 Let's get it done before 4th of July. And, um, the pavilion. The state report is requiring one more document from us. 00:13:01:01 - 00:13:04:15 Speaker 4 A site plan was the measurements of it. So we should have that sent. 00:13:04:15 - 00:13:10:04 Unknown In as we should get approval. And then. 00:13:10:06 - 00:13:16:26 Speaker 1 Right. Do we know if that HBC company ended up partnering with the Little League? 00:13:16:28 - 00:13:19:10 Speaker 4 I don't know. I know they went and looked at the site, but. 00:13:19:10 - 00:13:23:29 Unknown I don't know. I'll check more than that. 00:13:24:01 - 00:13:31:27 Speaker 1 And Tiffanie, did you get the information you needed about the kickball tournament? I think so. 00:13:31:29 - 00:13:43:17 Speaker 6 Um, I'm pretty much so. There's really only one location I can go to, and I'm just waiting for Tiffany to respond to me. Okay, So you pretty much said that whatever field we have is fine. 00:13:43:17 - 00:13:45:13 Speaker 1 So I'm just waiting for her to get back to me. 00:13:45:16 - 00:13:48:18 Speaker 6 I'll look at the data so I can read it back to you guys. Okay. 00:13:48:20 - 00:13:59:11 Speaker 1 And then one other thing Tom did you, um, make contact with the family that wanted to do that memorial bench or. 00:13:59:13 - 00:14:00:27 Speaker 4 Yes. 00:14:00:29 - 00:14:02:05 Speaker 1 That they had they were. 00:14:02:05 - 00:14:06:11 Speaker 4 Going to do the tree, but they haven't brought in any money. Okay. 00:14:06:13 - 00:14:34:01 Speaker 1 So, okay, great. Um, as far as old business goes, I just have a couple of items here. Um, the farmers market will start on June 3rd. Um, I believe it's 11 a.m. and all that information. There's a Facebook page for each group Farmer's market. It will be located on the Franciscan property near 17th and what is that? 17th. 00:14:34:06 - 00:15:03:04 Speaker 1 17th and Buffalo. Thank you. So check out the Facebook page for that starting in June and then I met with Samantha and Tiffany regarding the beer and wine policy, and Samantha was adding some of the suggestions that we all gave last time. I know she's working on that and we're hoping that that can be brought to the City Council in June possibly. 00:15:03:07 - 00:15:11:20 Speaker 1 So I'll let you guys know if there's any other changes or movement on that. But she she had our suggestions and was working on that. 00:15:11:22 - 00:15:15:07 Speaker 3 He met with the law enforcement, was it? 00:15:15:09 - 00:15:33:06 Speaker 1 No, I think that's the next step. Yes, I think so. That was next. Yes. Thank you. Any other questions about that? Great. I do not have anything else this evening. Does anybody have anything else to add? 00:15:33:09 - 00:15:38:18 Speaker 3 Um, Tiffany, last week, last month, you mentioned, um, downtown. 00:15:38:21 - 00:15:41:29 Speaker 1 Uh, yes, I did. However, we went. 00:15:41:29 - 00:15:44:18 Speaker 6 A different route, so we're going to do inflatable. 00:15:44:19 - 00:15:50:21 Unknown Over, not going to do about South Side to make some money. They'll playing other tables. 00:15:50:21 - 00:16:02:04 Speaker 1 I'm thank you. Or anything else like that that slipped the agenda. 00:16:02:06 - 00:16:13:15 Speaker 3 So um can we be let know for sure if um, the beer and wine permit is going to be heard in June? 00:16:13:15 - 00:16:16:18 Speaker 1 Yes. If it is heard in June, I will let you guys know. 00:16:16:21 - 00:16:19:26 Speaker 3 Because I think it'd be cool for as many of us to show up to that meeting as. 00:16:19:26 - 00:16:38:00 Speaker 1 Possible. Yes, we will need all hands on deck. Thank you. Okay. Council meeting. I will let you know if it's going to be on the agenda. So. All right. If you'd like to come and I get a motion to adjourn, I'll make that motion. 00:16:38:03 - 00:16:38:23 Speaker 2 A second. 00:16:38:25 - 00:16:39:29 Speaker 1 On favor. 00:16:40:01 - 00:16:41:20 Speaker 2 By. 00:16:41:22 - 00:16:44:21 Speaker 1 Meeting's adjourned. 737. See you next month.
