Who is Incoming Governor Braun, Lt. Gov. Beckwith

On January 13th 2025, Mike Braun, who began his career as a businessman from Jasper, Indiana, will become the 52nd governor of Indiana. Micah Beckwith, a pastor from Noblesville, Indiana will become the 53rd lt. governor.

Braun has run his own business for decades. In the last decade and a half, he’s served as a U.S. senator, state representative and a school board member in Jasper.

Beckwith comes from a much different background. He has been a pastor and worship leader most of his life, most recently at Life Church in Noblesville. Beyond being a leader for over a decade in the church community, he has ran for public office prior to running for lt. governor. In 2020, he ran for U.S. Congress in Indiana’s 5th District. He came in 3rd place with 13.1% of the vote in the Republican primary.

Time will tell how the Braun/Beckwith Administration governs. Both men have generally conservative views and will likely have 4-8 years to accomplish their agenda while working with an ideologically-aligned Statehouse. The Indiana Commons will aim to cover any administrative updates as they come along.
