If you’re experiencing homelessness in Indianapolis this winter, below is a list of shelter options.
The city’s winter contingency plan, which aims to get as many people inside during the coldest months of the year, goes from Dec. 1 through March 31, 2026.

For shelter information, you can call Aspire Indiana Health at 317-764-6914. You can call 211 or visit in211.org, or contact the Mayor’s Action Center at 317-327-4622.
For individual men
Start by calling Wheeler Mission Shelter for Men at 317-687-6795.
Wheeler will be the main shelter for men until it reaches capacity. The shelter has 250 beds and can house an extra 50 men on mats as overflow.

Check-in is from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
If Wheeler is at capacity, you may be referred to the Assessment and Intervention Center at the Community Justice Campus.
West Morris Free Methodist Church will serve as an overflow shelter site. There will be space for 50 men.
But it will only be open if: The temperature is 25 degrees or below, the wind chill is 15 degrees or below, or there’s precipitation with a wind chill of 25 degrees or below.
The city will announce by 8 a.m. whether the overflow site is open.

For individual women
Start by calling Wheeler Mission Center for Women and Children at 317-687-3630.
Wheeler will be the main shelter for women until it reaches capacity. The shelter has 68 beds and can house an extra 75 women on cots and mats as overflow. Wheeler can also shelter 30 families.

Check-in is from 4-7 p.m.
Women and families can also go to an overflow shelter at 2406 N. Tibbs Ave.
There will be space for 40 families and at least 10 women.
