Jacob Stewart, president and founder of Collegiate Commons, Inc., accepted the William F. Buckley Jr. Award for Excellence in Campus Reporting from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute Collegiate Network for his investigative work over the past year.
The Indiana Commons also published 121 articles during that time with more than 28,000 viewers.
Stewart was joined at the event by Jacob Buehrer, who he recently named general editor of The Indiana Commons.
“Jacob brings extensive multimedia experience that will benefit The Indiana Commons as it continues to grow after a successful first year of operations,” said Stewart.
Buehrer is the host of The Jacob Buehrer Show, a interview podcast that has hosted celebrities including The Dance Moms, Eric Trump, 3 Billionaires (Per Forbes), Snoop Dogg’s Dad, Weezer, Train band members, Apollo 16 Moonwalker, Former US Vice President Dan Quayle and many others, as well as local figures including past Purdue President Mitch Daniels, Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales and more. He has also served as an Executive Intern and Special Projects Intern in the Office of Secretary of State Diego Morales.
As the publication looks towards the future, it will increase its focus on civic engagement and being a news and educational resource for all Indiana residents, in line with the mission of its 501(c)(3) publisher, Collegiate Commons, Inc.
