You can help shape changes that could come soon to Warren Township schools.
The eastside district is inviting students, parents, staff and community members to join new focus groups to provide feedback as Warren administrators explore changes in many of its schools.
Earlier this year, administrators presented their ideas for moving the fifth grade back into elementary schools. Fifth graders currently attend intermediate schools along with sixth, seventh and eighth graders.
After the completion of several elementary school renovations, the district says it may have the space to move fifth graders back to attend classes with their elementary school peers.
The proposed changes could lead the district to shift around some students among elementary schools to make space and balance enrollment as the fifth grade moves back.
But, the decision is still pending school board approval and no changes would take place until at least the start of the 2026-27 school year.
Administrators say they want to hear from the community before bringing their final recommendations to the board. That means you have an opportunity to share your thoughts.
The district is convening seven focus groups covering the following topics:
- Fifth grade transition and experience
- Invest in our people
- School start and end times
- Reimagining sixth through eighth grade experience/sixth through eighth grade innovation
- School boundaries
- Elementary high ability/EXCEL program
- Enrollment management
Focus groups are expected to begin meeting in November. Administrators anticipate they will finalize plans this winter — likely in December or January.
