Residents have another opportunity to learn about plans for a proposed southside data center.
Seattle-based Sabey Data Centers wants city approval to build a roughly 130-acre data center on land north of Camby Road and southeast of Kentucky Avenue.
The company is asking the city to make an exception to zoning requirements. Current zoning does not allow for a data center to be built there. Sabey also is asking to include fewer parking spots than is required by the zoning ordinance.
The Decatur Township Civic Council’s Land Use Committee will ask Sabey staff questions about the proposal before taking questions from the public, according to a social media post from the organization.
Sabey hosted a community open house, Tuesday, Nov. 19, and attracted about 400 attendees, many of whom opposed the project.
Community members can learn more about the proposal 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18., at Decatur Township School for Excellence, 5106 S. High School Road.
